Vibrating screen types and common problem solutions

The vibrating screen is widely used in the mining industry. The material is divided into different specifications of stone gravel by vibrating screen, such as 10-12mm stones, 16-31.5mm stones, etc. These quarry stone sizes are more accurate and of better quality. So every mining production line uses vibrating screens, sometimes even several sets for a  stone crusher plant. So how many types of vibrating screens are there?

Types Of Vibrating Screen

Vibration screening equipment includes mining vibration screens, lightweight fine vibration screens, and experimental vibration screening machines according to their weight and purpose. Mining vibrating screens include high-efficiency heavy-duty screens, dewatering screens, circular vibrating screens, linear vibrating screens, etc. They are widely used in industries such as metallurgy, mining, coal, building materials, power, chemical industry, etc., especially in the mining industry.

1. Linear mining vibrating screen

The linear vibrating screen uses a vibrating motor as the vibrator, which has low energy consumption and power with an adjustable screen angle. The load transmitted to the foundation is small, and the foundation does not require special treatment. It has a fully enclosed structure with automatic discharge. Tie steel plate welded screen body, good rigidity, stability, and reliability.

Application: It is for removing heavy media during fine-grained screening and heavy media beneficiation.

2. Circular vibrating screen

The circular vibrating screen adopts an eccentric shaft and eccentric block vibrator, which operates stably; Low-stress shock-absorber spring, low noise; Ultra heavy large oil gap bearings with low operating temperature and long service life. It can be equipped with wear-resistant rubber mesh to prevent clogging of sieve holes.

Application: Suitable for material classification in mineral processing, building materials, power, and chemical industries, and can also be used for dehydration, desliming, and media removal.

3. High-frequency vibrating screen

The high-frequency vibrating screen adopts a wear-resistant rubber screen, with a lifespan of 10-20 times than steel and 4-6 times more than polyurethane, easy to do maintenance. The material on the sieve has a good looseness and layering effect. The weight and amplitude of the vibrating screen are adjustable.

Application: It is suitable for fine particle screening in mining, metallurgy, building materials, chemicals, and other departments.

Common problems of vibrating screens and solutions

A vibrating screen is a screening equipment for material classification, dehydration, desliming, disintermediation, and separation. By utilizing the vibration of the screen body, make the material loose, layer, and screen to achieve the purpose of material separation. The screening effect of a vibrating screen not only affects product value but also directly affects the efficiency of the following process. It usually work with stone crusher or belt conveyors.

1. Firstly, the vibrating screen bearings become hot

In general, the bearing temperature of the vibrating screen should stay in the range of 35-60 ℃ during trial and normal operation. If the temperature exceeds this value, we should check if there are any problems. The main reasons for high bearing temperature are as follows:

1. The radial clearance of the bearing is too small.

The radial clearance of the vibrating screen bearing is too small, and the bearing will wear excessively and generate heat. The main reason is that the bearing carries a big load-bearing, and has a high frequency.
Solution: Use large clearance bearings. If it is a regular clearance bearing, grind the outer ring of the bearing to a large clearance.

2. Excessive or insufficient bearing oil, oil contamination or inconsistent oil quality.

The lubrication system can ensure the operation of the vibrating screen bearings, prevent foreign objects from entering and sealing, eliminate frictional heat, reduce frictional wear, and prevent bearing overheating. Therefore, in production, it is necessary to ensure the quantity and quality of lubricating grease for the vibrating screen bearings.

Solution: It is necessary to regularly add oil to the bearing box according to the equipment usage requirements to avoid excessive or insufficient oil. If there is an issue with the oil quality, it is necessary to clean, change the oil, and seal it promptly.

2.Wear or damage of vibrating screen components

Some components of the vibrating screen may have severe wear and even fracture after long-term operation. The worn and damaged parts include springs, bearings, crossbeams, and screen frames.

1. The spring is broken.
Spring is an important component for vibration and noise reduction in vibrating screens. If the spring is damaged, it will make a lot of noise, causing damage to the screen.
Solution: Replace the spring from time to time to prevent production accidents.

2. Wear or fracture of bearings
Bearings are important components of vibrating screens. There are many reasons for bearing wear or fracture. Once severely worn or damaged, stop the machine and replace the parts.

3. Beam broken

Crossbeam broken is caused by excessive working at critical frequencies, resulting in a large number of high-strength bolts tightening the side panels becoming loose, causing severe deformation of the springs, and the height difference between the left and right side leading to cross beam broken. It is also possible that the weight error of the eccentric block is too large, causing damage to the structural components and breaking the crossbeam.

Solution: Stop the machine, replace the damaged structural components and crossbeams, and tighten the bolts. Adjust the mass of the eccentric block.

4. The screen frame is broken

The shaking of the vibrating screen sometimes will cause the screen frame damage.
Solution: Thicken the side panel, or locally thicken the side panel near the shock absorber (or add additional panels) to enhance the rigidity of the entire screen frame.

3. The sieve holes of the vibrating screen are blocked or damaged.

1. mesh screen clogged

The clogging of the sieve holes in a vibrating screen is usually due to the high mud and water content, causing the material to stick to the sieve holes and block them.

Solution: First clean the sieve holes, then adjust the amount of water sprayed and the inclination angle of the sieve surface appropriately.

2. Mesh screen damaged

Long-term use of the vibrating screen results in severe wear of the sieve holes, which affects the screening effect.

Solution: If the mesh wear is not severe, repair it in a timer; If the screen is damaged severely, change it for a new one.
