Granite Crushing Plant Design and Crusher Machines

Granite is hard rock with a saturated uniaxial ultimate compressive strength of more than 30 MPa. For such hard rocks, the crushing plant always includes coarse crushing, medium-fine crushing, and shaping processes. This paper briefly introduces the design of the granite processing line. The hard rock processing line can also suit to basalt, diabase, andesite, etc.

1. Description of granite

Granite is a good type of building stone with a uniform structure, hard texture and beautiful color. The density is 2790~3070kg/m3, the compressive strength is 1000~3000kg/cm2, the elastic modulus is 1.3~1.5x106kg/cm3, and the water absorption rate is 0.13. %, Shore hardness > HS70, specific gravity 2.6 ~ 2.75. For such hard rock, the crushing process is necessary to be as the first step.

2 Crushing process and equipment

According to the requirements of the finished product, a complete crushing line includes coarse crushing, medium crushing, fine crushing, grinding.
Stone crushing machines:

    1. Jaw crusher always used in the first crushing section, can crush the large size material which with less than 350MPa of compressive strength to a size of 100 mm to 300 mm.
    2. Impact crusher generally takes effect at the second crushing section, can process the <500mm rock ore which with compressive strength up to 350MPa, output cubic grain.
    3. Cone crusher/ conical crusher same as the impact crusher can be put at the second crush processing sector, feed size 13~369mm is less than the impact crusher’s. cone crusher is a high-efficiency crusher machine which with high crushing efficiency, less replacement.
    4. Sand making machine usually in the last crushing process, feed size is 35~60mm, the sand maker is suiting for the is suitable for the crushing and shaping of soft, medium hard and extremely hard materials. Generally, it is the last process of the crushing sand production line, and the feeding granularity is 35~60mm.

    In addition to the main crushing equipment, some auxiliary equipment such as vibrating screens, material feeders and conveyor belts are required to cooperate with the crusher machines.

    3 Granite crushing plant layout and design

    Bulk granite from the material bin to the vibrating feeder, evenly fed into the jaw crusher of the primary crushing, then the output coarse crushed granite into the cone crusher of the secondary crushing process. after the secondary crushing, the vibrating screen sieves the discharge from cone crusher, big granite need go back to the cone crushing, small size then conveys to the sand making machine. what’s more, the sand washing machine is necessary to do the cleaning.

    4 Considerations

    The equipment selection of the granite crushing production line is mainly determined by the requirements of sand size, production capacity, application site, etc. There are different types of rock crusher, vary by the production capacity, feed size, discharge size.
